Loki Trailer Teases MCU Mystery Villain is Changing The Timeline - Screen Rant

A brand new TV spot for Loki reveals that someone is messing with the natural flow of the MCU's timeline. Following several weeks of hiatus on the heels of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's end, Marvel Studios is gearing up to continue Phase 4 with the upcoming Tom Hiddleston-led Disney+ series. With that, marketing for the show is in full swing to keep the hype up going into its premiere.

The God of Mischief's unexpected escape during Avengers: Endgame's time heist springboards Loki's narrative. Following this 2012, pre-redemption version of the character, Loki will find himself in a brand new mission as he's forced to work for the Time Variance Authority, who arrested him after his daring jump with the Tesseract in Endgame. His actions effectively created a branched timeline that put him under the TVA's radar. But while he was meant to be punished for his crimes, Agent Mobius M. Mobius figured that Thor's adopted brother would be of great use in regard to an ongoing case he's currently handling.

As confirmed by the synopsis for Loki, the Time Keepers need the anti-hero's help to contain a far greater threat than him. It's uncertain what this mysterious threat is exactly, but a brand new TV spot for the Disney+ series hints the show's mystery villain is messing around with the flow of time. This has resulted in problems for the TVA, and for some reason, the conniving Asgardian prince might be the only one to help them contain this new adversary. Watch the clip shared on Marvel Entertainment's official YouTube page below:

The TVA, despite being a new organization, has apparently been involved in the MCU for quite a while. It's confirmed that the TVA predetermines what happens in the past, the present, and the future. Given this, the mysterious being going rogue and throwing havoc into their perfectly laid out plans will definitely be a cause for concern. It's unclear what the ramifications are if the said perpetrator is not contained in Loki. Based on the official footage released for the show thus far, it seems like they're a worthy adversary, however, as Mobius and the TVA are essentially forced to require the help of their prisoner.

It's currently uncertain who is wreaking havoc on TVA's plans. Interestingly, it's still unclear who Loki's the main villain is and chances are that this was an intentional creative choice for Marvel Studios. That said, since the show will feature multiple variants of the character, arguably the most popular choice to be the show's primary antagonist is Lady Loki, who's reportedly played by Sophia Di Martino. It's also worth noting that Richard E. Grant has been confirmed as a cast member, but his role has yet to be confirmed.
