The first three episodes of “Arcane” are finally out, granting the most in depth look into any League of Legends champions fans have ever seen to date. But which of the game’s many champions made an appearance so far?
Read on to find out — but beware of spoilers.
Jinx
This League of Legends champion’s appearance came as no surprise to anyone given that she has been advertised as the main character before the series released. She is also on the cover for most of the series’ adverts. A young Jinx opens the series and is singing in the background.
She covers her eyes while holds her sister’s hand, trying to avoid the carnage around them. Both characters are surrounded by a pile of destruction, with fires and dead bodies almost as far as the eye could see. But amid the chaotic background, Jinx and her sister meet a man who carries them away from the scene. Jinx was featured in all three episodes released and she is actually known as “Powder” in her early years.
Vi
Vi is also another League champion fans were already expecting to see. Jinx’s sister is also featured in the opening scene and remains a strong presence throughout the three episodes. The second main character is portrayed as a loving but hardened elder sister who has scraped her way through life.
Vi, like most other Zaunites, is ready to fight to eradicate the oppression they face from the Enforcers and people of Piltover. She goes for a raid in Piltover with Claggor and Mylo to rescue their adoptive father, Vander. But after Powder shows up, it does not end well.
Ekko
The young, cute and intelligent Ekko enters “Arcane” around 29 minutes into the first episode. He appears in the shop of a local merchant known as Benzo, who tells Ekko to leave the equipment he is trying to repair and step aside for a while so he can talk to Vander. In the series, Ekko is good friends with Vi and her crew and he is also the “little man.”
Singed
Singed appears at the end of episode one and is shown to be working with the villain Silco, though he may slide under the radar as a side character.
The mad chemist demonstrates his devotion to pushing the boundaries of science at all costs. In League of Legends lore, Singed focused on the chemical potential of alchemy, but his efforts were ridiculed by his fellow colleagues. After his funding dried up, he was forced to leave the University of Piltover and move to Zaun where his work went unquestioned.
At the end of episode one, Singed injects a mouse with a glowing substance to turn it into a monster. As the series progresses, we see more of this mysterious chemical substance injected into humans, which makes them into killing machines.
Ryze
Unlike most League of Legends champions featured in the first three episodes, Ryze comes in “Arcane” during a key flashback for Jayce. He appears to save Jayce and his mother while they were freezing to death in the frozen lands of the Frejlord. After realm warping them to safety, he leaves Jayce with the crystal used to save them.
Jayce
This League of Legends champion is revealed in Arcane at the very beginning of the second episode alongside another familiar face. The beginning of this episode shows Vi and Jinx had broken into Jayce’s apartment during the first episode, leaving Jayce in a mess after everything explodes as he opens the door.
After being investigated, Jayce is arrested and has to face the Council for carrying out unapproved research. He loses his place at the Piltover Academy but is still convinced he has found a way to harness magic through science.
Caitlyn
Caitlyn is the League champion revealed with Jayce at the beginning of episode two. She comes from a wealthy family in Piltover and her parents also double as Jayce’s patrons. Her mother is on the council, which was responsible for deciding Jayce’s fate. She doesn’t get to do much yet, but her time will come in future episodes of “Arcane.”
Viktor
Just like Jayce and Caitlyn, Viktor also debuts in “Arcane” during episode two. The usually masked mage champion is seen in academy uniform holding a cane while reviewing Jayce’s incomplete research. In “Arcane,” Viktor is assistant to the dean of the academy and orders for Jayce to be arrested after his illegal experiments. He also pulls a 180 on his relationship with Jayce after he finds out the goals of the illegal experimentation.
Heimerdinger
Heimerdinger is the last League of Legends champion to be revealed in the first three episodes of “Arcane.” The mage champion is the dean of the Piltover Academy and also a member of the council. He enters the prison Jayce’s prison cell to tell him what to say at the council hearing that will help him avoid huge exile from the city. Heimerdinger’s portrayal in “Arcane” is in line with League lore that labels him a professor and one of Piltover’s most brilliant minds. Heimer also reveals he is 307-years-0ld.
With six more episodes remaining, more League of Legend champions could be featured in the series. The next three episodes of “Arcane” will air on Netflix on Nov. 13.
